Ashby School | Cover Supervisor

We are looking to expand our excellent team of Cover Supervisors to support students in the case of absence of their usual classroom teacher. We want to appoint an individual who can command respect, who understands how to communicate with young people, who is interested in being a learner and who works well as part of a team. We also seek to appoint someone who understands that this role is not always needed every lesson of every day and, as such, is willing to work with students in alternative capacities supporting learning in its broadest sense.

Cover Supervisor is also an excellent opportunity to start your journey into teaching. We believe that Ashby is a great place for students to take their next educational steps. Whether this is building experience for an application to train as a teacher or exploring whether education is a good fit for you, this role is offered in conjunction with a full suite of continuing professional development.

Hours of work are 8.30 am – 3.25pm Monday to Friday with 40 minutes unpaid lunch. This is for 38 weeks plus 2 training days. This is a permanent contract.

Ashby School | Subject Leader Physics

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated subject leader for Physics with a passion for their subject and the ability to inspire and motivate students. As Subject leader for Physics you will lead a successful department in areas such as curriculum development at Key Stage 3, strategies that aim to raise attainment across Key Stage 4 and the importance of Physics in today’s curriculum. You will also contribute to the overall leadership of your faculty adopting responsibilities for the benefit of all students in this broad subject area.

Physics is a popular subject at Ashby School. We teach across the Sciences collaboratively at Key Stage 3 before moving to an approach of Triple Science for all at Key Stage 4. with large numbers of students choosing the subject at A-level.

The Science Faculty has suites of purpose built and well-resourced laboratories across both of our school sites. We also have access to state-of-the-art facilities such as an immersive learning hub that enables us to enhance understanding and promote creativity in learning.

We are a fantastic team of positive, friendly and highly supportive Science teachers and technicians who strive to create the very best possible learning experience for our students. We have recently undergone age range change and now have students in every year group from KS3-5. We have created a challenging and engaging curriculum for KS3 and we are relishing the enthusiasm they bring to the school. We are excited to see our students develop into able scientists by encouraging then to discover and explore scientific phenomena and see that science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge.

As Subject leader for Religious Studies you will lead a successful department in areas such as curriculum development at Key Stage 3, effective and engaging delivery at Key Stage 4 & 5 and the importance of Religious Studies in today’s curriculum.

Religious Studies is a popular subject at Ashby School with consistent cohorts at A-level. It is also a key part of our Key Stage 3 Humanities provision and one of our suite of Humanities options at GCSE. We also want to grow a more holistic coverage at Key Stage 4 with the right person to lead this innovation.

The Religious Studies department is part of a thriving Humanities faculty that prides itself on outstanding teaching and care for students. The principle aim of RS at Ashby School is for students to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live. This enables students to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living. RS teaching and learning at Ashby School enables students to: make sense of a range of religious and non-religious beliefs; understand the impact and significance of religious and non-religious beliefs; and make connections between religious and non-religious beliefs, concepts, practices and ideas studied.

We are looking for a teacher who shares these aims and wants RS to be at the very heart of Ashby School. RS is taught through KS3 to KS5. The students study the AQA specification at GCSE level and the OCR specification at A level.
