Ivanhoe School | Cover Supervisor

We are looking for a highly motivated and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our talented and supportive team to supervise prepared lessons in the absence of a class teacher, ensuring that students’ learning and development is continued and maintained.

During cover lessons your role will be to ensure all students understand the task which has been set and are engaged with learning. You will also be expected to manage the behaviour of the class when covering in accordance with the school’s behaviour policy. It will be essential to work with the students to ensure they are getting the most out of the lesson and to facilitate their learning as much as possible.

Our ideal candidate is a conscientious and dedicated team player, who is happy to work flexibly in a busy school. You will have excellent communication skills and a good command of written and spoken English.

Physics is a popular subject at Ashby School. We teach across the Sciences collaboratively at Key Stage 3 before moving to an approach of Triple Science for all at Key Stage 4. with large numbers of students choosing the subject at A-level.

The Science Faculty has suites of purpose built and well-resourced laboratories across both of our school sites. We also have access to state-of-the-art facilities such as an immersive learning hub that enables us to enhance understanding and promote creativity in learning.

The Religious Studies department is part of a thriving Humanities faculty that prides itself on outstanding teaching and care for students. The principle aim of RS at Ashby School is for students to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live. This enables students to gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living. RS teaching and learning at Ashby School enables students to: make sense of a range of religious and non-religious beliefs; understand the impact and significance of religious and non-religious beliefs; and make connections between religious and non-religious beliefs, concepts, practices and ideas studied.

We are looking for a teacher who shares these aims and wants RS to be at the very heart of Ashby School. RS is taught through KS3 to KS5. The students study the AQA specification at GCSE level and the OCR specification at A level.
