Remembering Maria Everley

Bosworth Academy and the LiFE Multi-Academy Trust are saddened to announce the passing of Maria Everley. Maria was a long time servant of the school, the trust and our community and she exemplified a commitment to public service and social responsibility. She was a Governor of Bosworth Academy and formally Bosworth Community College from 2006 to 2017 and she was founding Director of the LiFE Multi-Academy Trust, including being the Chair of Trustees between 2018 and 2021.

Despite the pressures and responsibility of being a Chair of the Trust, she remained able to light up any room she walked into with her enthusiasm and passion for delivering a whole education. She will be remembered by all at the trust and out thoughts are with her family at this difficult time. We have opened a book of condolences in the reception area at Bosworth Academy.

LiFE MAT Press Statement – 13/08/2020

Overall, students within our schools have received good grades. However, the LiFE Multi-Academy Trust is disappointed and angry with the system that has been used to allocate A Level grades. When this system was under consultation, we expressed our concerns in the strongest terms. We take no pleasure in finding that our concerns were correct.

Statement From LiFE MAT 13/08/2020 [pdf]

Our values at LiFE are rooted in striving for equity, justice and empowerment for all, both within our community and beyond. The world’s shared fight against Coronavirus has given us a sense of a common goal. In stark contrast has been the tragic killing of George Floyd at the hands of a US police officer, a person who should hold equity in the eyes of the law in highest regard. This brings into sharp focus that our ‘old normal’ was not good enough. To wish merely, to return to this ‘old normal’ would be to fail to recognise the privilege that so many fail to appreciate.

A Statement From LiFE To All Within Our Community [pdf]

What we provide for our children and communities is incredibly valuable and important. The longer we cannot provide our service the more harm is done. This is a significant risk and has to be balanced with the possibility of within school transmission on C19.

The Winstanley School | Girls SHINE Event

On the anniversary of 100 years of female suffrage in the UK and as part of our commitment to widening horizons and enabling excellence, we welcomed 13 professional women to our year 10 and 11 aspirational morning last week. The morning started with year seven girls singing the song they prepared for Braunstone Baptist Church concert. This was followed by a key note speech from Rachel Curtis Bowen, Chief Customer Officer at Cambridgeshire Bank.

The women then workshops with the girls. These workshops allowed the girls to quiz the women as to their chosen career and to ask questions and seek advice for their own futures. There was a lively question and answer session and after break  Teesha sang for us followed by more workshops. The morning ended with our prefects thanking the women for their time. Well done and keep on SHINING!

The Winstanley School | Remembrance Tribute

On the 9th November our whole school took part in an act of Remembrance to commemorate the end of the First World War. Students all created their own tributes to someone who has lost their life through conflict. Our theme was ‘Everyone Remembered, Everyone Included’ and we asked students to really think about people they might like to remember. All students held a two minute silence and formed the word PEACE whilst remembering the sacrifices made.
